Consuelos: 'I've Never Said I Miss My Dad' Until Now

Mark Consuelos has opened up about the profound grief following the loss of his father, Saul Consuelos. Speaking on the 'I've Never Said This Before' podcast, Consuelos described his father as a "mythical character" and the best man he has ever known. He revealed a surprising personal struggle: he had never previously said, "I miss my dad," because his father had always been so present in his life.

The death followed a challenging five-month period as his father battled illness. Consuelos shared his prayer for a "merciful exit" for his father, which he felt was granted through a quick and painless passing. Despite attempting to mentally prepare for the eventuality, the reality of his father's absence hit hard during a family memorial service.

Consuelos finds a way to keep his father's memory alive by looking up before he goes on stage for his Broadway show, "Fallen Angels." He described his father as a brilliant immigrant from Mexico who served his country for 30 years and earned a master's degree while working in special operations command. Consuelos's wife, Kelly Ripa, also shared her deep admiration for her father-in-law, calling him the "greatest person I've ever known."
