Actress Marissa Bode, who originated the role of Nessarose Thropp in 'Wicked,' has been cast in the upcoming psychological thriller "Snare." Bode will portray Greta Mills, a sharp and driven research partner whose life becomes dangerously intertwined with the film's central, darker themes. The movie, helmed by directors Sonja O'Hara and Adam Hoelzel, promises a gripping narrative exploring obsession and body horror.
"Snare" centers on a mushroom expert who navigates a complex love triangle that spirals into unsettling territory. Bode's character, Greta, is integral to the unfolding conflict, bringing depth to the story. Notably, Bode, who uses a wheelchair in real life and made history with her 'Wicked' performance, will be portraying her first on-screen queer character, a significant milestone following her 2024 public declaration of her identity.
Co-written by O'Hara and Hoelzel, the script was developed at the Tribeca Vital Stories Lab. Bode will also serve as an executive producer for "Snare," alongside a notable team including Jeffrey Weber and Greg Tarzan Davis. Production is scheduled to commence this January in Los Angeles, with the film backed by the Tribeca Film Festival.
