Bajpayee: Big films intimidate for screen monopoly

Manoj Bajpayee has highlighted the significant challenges faced by small and independent films in India due to the monopolistic practices of big-budget productions. He emphasized that a fair system for film exhibition is crucial for a level playing field.

Bajpayee suggested that government intervention is necessary to ensure all films receive adequate screen time. He cited the example of Marathi cinema in Maharashtra, where a policy guarantees minimum screens, a model he believes should be adopted nationwide.

The actor also pointed out that major film releases often secure the majority of shows by intimidating distributors and exhibitors. He reiterated his call for a fair system, stating that patronage for independent films should be infrastructural, guaranteeing exhibition rather than just financial support.
