Lakshmipriya Devi's BAFTA award-winning Manipuri film, 'Boong', has achieved a historic milestone by grossing over ₹1 crore since its release on March 6. This marks the first time a Manipuri film has reached this financial benchmark.
Co-produced by prominent names including Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, 'Boong' has garnered significant international recognition. The film secured the Best Children's and Family Film award at the 2026 BAFTA ceremony in London.
'Boong' has been celebrated at various prestigious film festivals worldwide. Its journey includes a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, followed by screenings at the Warsaw International Film Festival, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the 55th International Film Festival of India, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025.
Director Lakshmipriya Devi, who previously served as an assistant director on notable Excel Entertainment projects, has received critical acclaim for her directorial debut. Her work on 'Boong' earned her the Best Director title at the Bulbul Children's International Film Festival.
