Manchester Pride May Return After Charity Collapse

Manchester Pride might see a revival in 2026, with the city council expressing strong support for its return. The charity behind the event recently entered voluntary liquidation, casting doubt on its future. This followed reports in October from numerous businesses and performers who had not been paid thousands of pounds they were owed by event organizers.

Event bosses had attributed the collapse to a combination of escalating costs, reduced ticket sales, and an ambitious format change intended to address these challenges. However, the city council is now actively seeking a way to bring Pride back to Manchester.

Councillor Pat Karney indicated enthusiasm for a more cost-effective, "home-made" Pride celebration. He confirmed that the council has already engaged in "very positive meetings" with various interested parties, suggesting a collaborative approach to resurrecting the event.
