Manchester Day: A Fiesta from Barcelona!

Manchester Day 2026 is set to be a landmark event, taking place on Sunday, July 26, from 12:00 to 17:00 BST. This year, the annual celebration of friendship, community, and culture, running since 2010, will feature international performers for the very first time, bringing a distinct Catalan flavour to the city.

The festivities are a result of Manchester's collaboration with Barcelona's La Mercè festival last year. Organisers promise unexpected entertainment, including music, energy, and Catalan vibes. Families can anticipate a diverse programme of outdoor arts, featuring acclaimed companies from both the UK and Spain.

A highlight will be the much-loved parade, commencing at 13:00 from St. Peter's Square, with over 500 performers and community groups. The route will wind through the city centre, showcasing vibrant displays. Additionally, literary-themed activities will be hosted at Manchester Central Library to mark the national year of reading.

Spectators should look out for a range of imaginative acts, from roaming dragons and mischievous gnomes to acrobatic performances and a herd of inflatable hippos. For children and families, the chance to step inside a giant inflatable whale is also a unique attraction. The entire event is free and designed for all ages.
