The British comedy series 'Mammoth,' created by and starring Mike Bubbins, is set for a US adaptation, with producers having reached the scriptwriting phase. The show centers on Tony Mammoth, a traditional PE teacher who was cryogenically frozen in an avalanche in 1979 and reawakens in 2024 to a vastly altered world.
Bubbins shared his delight about the international interest in his show, noting that US producers contacted him early in the first series' run. While he has provided notes on the script, Bubbins has ruled himself out of appearing in the adaptation.
For the lead role of Tony Mammoth, Bubbins has a strong preference: he would be thrilled to have actor Jason Bateman step into the part. He admires Bateman's comedic talent, citing his work in 'Arrested Development' and 'Ozark.' Bubbins also hopes to make a cameo appearance in the US version, similar to Ricky Gervais's role in the American 'The Office.'
