Mammootty Recalls Sensory Loss During Health Scare

Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty recounted a significant health challenge from 2025 that led to a temporary loss of his senses of smell and taste. During a hospital event, he shared how this prolonged period without these senses altered his perspective on ordinary human abilities. Mammootty highlighted that the value of sight, hearing, smell, and taste is often fully realized only after they are diminished or lost.

The actor stressed the significance of hearing, noting how its absence prevents even simple requests like asking someone to lower their voice. He described hearing as a divine gift, a privilege many fail to appreciate until they experience its lack. After undergoing medical treatment during his hiatus, Mammootty has now recovered and returned to film sets. He is currently working on the movie Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, slated for an April 23 release.
