- Re-editing is complete; release planned for May 1st.

Malayalam cinema legends Mammootty and Mohanlal are set to reunite in the upcoming political thriller 'Patriot,' directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The film, which marks their first collaboration in 19 years, has encountered a hurdle as the Censor Board has suggested several cuts. Reports indicate that sensitive content within the political thriller necessitated these changes.
Specifically, the Censor Board requested the alteration of the villain's name, as it reportedly bore a resemblance to a political leader's son. The filmmaking team has already completed the re-editing work at Lal Media Studio in Kochi. Following the submission and clearance of the revised print, the film is on track for its original release date of May 1st.
To further build anticipation, an exclusive chat show featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal, and the 'Patriot' team is scheduled to stream on April 23rd at 6 PM. The movie boasts a star-studded cast including Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Nayanthara. Both Mammootty and Mohanlal have other highly awaited projects, including Mohanlal's 'Drishyam 3' and Mammootty's collaboration with Adoor Gopalakrishnan for 'Padayatra'.
