Malta: Hollywood's New Soundstage Paradise?

Malta is significantly boosting its film industry infrastructure and talent development.

The nation recently hosted its fourth Mediterrane Film Festival, drawing prominent Hollywood figures and showcasing its commitment to cinematic growth.

Key initiatives include a new €2 million scholarship fund aimed at upskilling local crews and identifying areas for strategic investment in talent.

Malta's film studios are set to feature a groundbreaking Land Sea Super Stage, a unique facility designed to attract major international productions.

This new soundstage, with its advanced capabilities like a 20-meter high water tank, is expected to enhance Malta's competitive edge.

The film commissioner, Johann Grech, has spearheaded efforts to transform the industry from seasonal to year-round employment.

This strategic shift, coupled with a robust rebate program, has demonstrably increased production activity, with 17 projects filmed in the past year.

For every Euro invested in film rebates, the industry generates four Euros back, underscoring its economic viability.

Malta's appeal extends beyond infrastructure, encompassing diverse locations and a skilled workforce, positioning it for continued success.
