Mallika Sukumaran Defends Manju Warrier Amid Director's Claims

Mallika Sukumaran has voiced strong support for actor Manju Warrier, dismissing director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's accusations that Warrier is being held captive. In an interview, Sukumaran commended Warrier's dignified handling of the situation and questioned Sasidharan's motives for raising such claims.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan recently concluded a nine-day hunger strike outside the Kerala Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram. His protest aimed to demand an investigation into his allegation that Manju Warrier was being unwillingly held by a sex racket. Police intervention led to the end of his demonstration.

Sukumaran criticized the director, questioning why these allegations surfaced when Warrier was enjoying peace in her life. She suggested that those who remain silent might do so out of self-respect, not foolishness. Sasidharan later responded on social media, accusing Sukumaran of mockery and misunderstanding his position regarding his relationship with Warrier.

Adding to the controversy, Manju Warrier filed a defamation suit in a Kochi court towards the end of September. The suit, seeking an injunction, led to notices being issued to Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, Shajan Skaria, and Meta Platforms Inc. The court is scheduled to hear the petition on November 5.
