Stars Unrecognizable? Surgeon Points to Eye Lifts
26 May
Summary
- Eyelid surgery may explain sudden appearance changes in male stars.
- A surgeon warns it can feminize features and alter looks drastically.
- Recovery is quick, but fixing mistakes can take over a decade.

A prominent plastic surgeon, Dr. Terry Dubrow, has identified eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, as a likely reason behind the recent, striking changes in the appearances of several male Hollywood celebrities. He noted that this procedure, which involves removing excess skin and tissue from the eyelids, can have a polarizing effect on male features, potentially leading to a feminized look if not performed with caution.
Dr. Dubrow explained that for men with naturally masculine features, removing even a small amount of excess skin can drastically alter their appearance, sometimes in ways that are difficult to correct. He mentioned stars like Jim Carrey and Bradley Cooper as examples he believes have undergone this procedure. While the surgery offers a quick recovery compared to more invasive options, he cautioned that overly aggressive results from upper blepharoplasty can take more than a decade to fix.
The cosmetic procedure, which can cost upwards of $15,000, is attractive due to its relatively fast recovery time. However, Dr. Dubrow advises celebrities to be discerning when choosing surgeons, emphasizing that expertise with female patients does not automatically translate to optimal results for men. He suggested that stars with softer features, like John Stamos and Rob Lowe, tend to achieve more subtle and pleasing outcomes from eyelid surgery.
