In a heartwarming gesture, Malayalam actor Babu Antony has shared a throwback photo with Bollywood icon Dharmendra, reminiscing their time together on the sets of the 1996 Hindi film 'Mafia'. Antony's post comes shortly after reports confirmed that the 89-year-old veteran actor was discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on November 9, 2025, after being admitted on October 31 for breathlessness.
'Mafia' holds a special place in Babu Antony's career, as the 1996 Hindi version was an unofficial remake of the 1993 Malayalam action thriller of the same name. The original Malayalam film, directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Renji Panicker, featured Suresh Gopi in the lead along with Antony, Vikram, and Tiger Prabhakar. It became a major box office success upon its Diwali release on November 13, 1993.
The Hindi adaptation, directed by Aziz Sejawal, starred Dharmendra in a key role alongside Aditya Pancholi, Somy Ali, and Gulshan Grover. The film was praised for its gripping action sequences and ensemble performances, eventually being declared a hit. Babu Antony also played the role of Chhote in the Hindi remake.
