Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to Jennifer Weiner's New York Times bestseller, The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits, with Amy Sherman-Palladino attached to write and direct.
The novel, released on April 8, 2025, quickly became a bestseller. It centers on Cassie and Zoe Griffin, sisters who found immense pop stardom in the early 2000s. Their journey delves into the pressures of the music industry, unspoken grievances, and a significant betrayal that led to their estrangement.
Stacey Sher, known for producing Django Unchained and Erin Brokovich, is set to produce the film adaptation. Jennifer Weiner will serve as an executive producer. This project follows Sherman-Palladino's recent work, including the Prime Video series Étoile and a Netflix adaptation of Eloise.
Weiner's books have achieved significant success, with over 11 million copies in print worldwide. Her 2002 novel, In Her Shoes, was previously adapted into a film in 2005. The paperback edition of The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits is scheduled for publication in June.
