Telugu cinema icon Mahesh Babu has joined Shortgun Games as a strategic investor. This Mumbai-based studio is distinct in its focus on creating original intellectual property for PC and console platforms, deliberately bypassing the mobile-first approach common in India's digital entertainment landscape.
Founded by Jeet Chandan and Vidhit Mehta, Shortgun Games aims to deliver franchise-scale titles. Their first project, "Project Takedown," is a major story-driven action-adventure game designed to compete with international releases. The studio is also working on a cooperative indie game titled "Roll 'em Out."
Babu expressed his excitement about the venture, highlighting India's creative potential and the opportunity to build globally resonant characters and cinematic worlds. He was drawn to Chandan and Mehta's clear ambition to create high-end PC and console experiences comparable to international benchmarks. Action director Vicky Arora, known for his work on "RRR" and "Uri: The Surgical Strike," has been brought on board to develop the game's fight sequences.
