Magda Szubanski Debunks Cruel Online Death Hoax

Magda Szubanski has recently become the target of a malicious online hoax, with misinformation spreading online claiming her death. A fabricated tribute, complete with a fake future death year, was shared on social media, causing distress.

Followers swiftly identified the post as a hoax, expressing their dismay in the comments. This is not the first instance this year that the comedian has faced such heartless misinformation. In January, Szubanski issued a warning after online scammers exploited her likeness and her public battle with cancer.

Szubanski, who revealed in May that she is battling Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer, used social media to expose the fraudulent activity. She cautioned fans against donating to any medical fundraisers purporting to be her, emphasizing that she had no involvement in them and urging them not to fall for the scam.

The comedian publicly shared her diagnosis in May, appearing with a shaved head to discuss her treatment. She detailed her battle with the aggressive lymphoma, expressing gratitude for her support system of friends, family, and her medical team in Australia. Szubanski is undergoing treatment, including a protocol aimed at shrinking tumors.

Her health journey has been public for some time, including her past association with weight loss brands and her ABC TV show focusing on health. Szubanski has also openly discussed living with various health conditions such as osteoarthritis, autoimmune arthritis, sleep apnoea, and migraines. Beyond physical health, she is a prominent advocate for mental health awareness, having shared her personal experiences with anxiety and the impact of dieting.
