6 Oct
Summary
- Delhi liquor company claims copyright on 'Bro Code' title
- Filmmaker Ravi Mohan files petition to use title for his film
- Madras High Court grants 3-month interim injunction on Delhi firm

In a developing legal dispute, the title and rights conflict surrounding the upcoming film 'Bro Code' has captured the attention of fans. The film, produced and starring Ravi Mohan, is directed by Karthik Yogi, known for his previous works 'Dikkilono' and 'Vadakkupatti Ramasamy'. The cast includes notable actors such as S.J. Surya, Shraddha Srinath, and Sri Gouri Priya.
However, the film's title has become the subject of a legal challenge. A liquor manufacturing company in Delhi has filed a complaint, claiming they have copyrighted the name 'Bro Code'. They have informed the film's production house that they cannot use the title. In response, Ravi Mohan has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, seeking permission to use the title for his film.
The case was heard by Justice Lakshmi Narayanan, who has now granted a 3-month interim injunction. This means the Delhi company cannot prohibit the use of the name 'Bro Code' for the film directed by Karthik Yogi. The judge's decision comes as a relief for the filmmakers, who can now proceed with the production and release of 'Bro Code' without the threat of a title ban.
Interestingly, another case is also pending against Ravi Mohan in the Madras High Court. A production company, Bobby Touch Gold Universal, has filed a lawsuit alleging that Ravi Mohan used the advance payment to produce 'Bro Code' without directing the actor as promised. Both cases are still ongoing, adding to the legal complexities surrounding the film.
