Madras HC Issues Anti-Piracy Order for 'Peddi' Release
28 May
Summary
- Madras High Court issued an anti-piracy order for 'Peddi'.
- The order prevents illegal online sharing before and after release.
- The court granted interim protection for four weeks.

The Madras High Court has delivered a crucial blow against piracy with an anti-piracy order for the upcoming Telugu film 'Peddi,' starring Ram Charan. This legal protection, granted on Wednesday evening by Justice V Lakshminarayanan, aims to prevent any unauthorized online dissemination of the movie.
The court's decision followed a plea from the film's producer, who sought to safeguard against copyright infringement and illegal leaks. Recognizing the significant financial expenditure on production and promotion, the court acknowledged that unauthorized online release could inflict severe financial damages on the filmmakers.
As a result, an interim injunction has been issued, barring unknown individuals and online platforms from illegally sharing, copying, or distributing the film. The court also invoked the 'Ashok Kumar order,' a measure typically applied in piracy cases where perpetrators' identities are initially unknown, facilitating swift legal action.
This interim protection will remain in effect for four weeks, after which the case will be heard again. 'Peddi,' a sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is scheduled for release on June 4.
