Madonna Shares Her Spiritual Awakening and Life Purpose

On September 29, 2025, pop icon Madonna, 67, made her first-ever podcast appearance on "On Purpose with Jay Shetty." During the candid conversation, the superstar discussed her lifelong spiritual awakening, which began shortly before the birth of her first child, Lourdes Leon.

Madonna, who first discovered Kabbalah in 1996, told Shetty that "success is having a spiritual life, period." She believes her "soul's purpose is to reveal light in the world through whatever I do," adding that "the greatest amount of light is where there's darkness."

The seven-time Grammy winner acknowledged that she was once "a slave or victim of other people's opinions," but over the years, she has embraced the fact that "I don't fit in, and not fitting in is what saves you." Through her ups and downs, Madonna credits her spirituality for carrying her through, stating that "spiritual wisdom is not helpful when everything's going your way. It's helpful when you're challenged and when you're happy."

The star was later joined by her Kabbalah teacher, Eitan Yardeni, as they discussed their new course, "The Mystical Studies of the Zohar." Madonna emphasized the importance of "radical acceptance" and not taking one's spiritual journey for granted.
