Madelaine Petsch Battles Bizarre Boar Attack in Disappointing 'Strangers' Sequel

As the movie calendar approaches September 26, 2025, horror fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of 'The Strangers: Chapter 2', the sequel to the 2000s cult classic. However, early reviews suggest the film may not live up to expectations.

Director Renny Harlin and his team reportedly conducted reshoots on the second and third chapters of the planned trilogy, but the changes did not win over the critics. Meagan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting describes the sequel as a "chase movie filled with asinine scenarios", including a "bad CGI boar attack" that is deemed one of the "most ridiculously conceived and executed things" in recent horror cinema.

While the first chapter in the series was praised for its slasher aspect, the second installment appears to lack the necessary tension, as audiences already know that the protagonist, Maya Lucas (played by Madelaine Petsch), will survive to the final chapter in 2026. The film also reportedly dials back the violence compared to the already-tame first chapter.

Despite the overall disappointment, critics have praised Madelaine Petsch's committed performance, with the actress proving to be "game for whatever bizarre set pieces await her character." However, the CGI boar attack seems to be a particular sore point, with multiple reviewers highlighting its poor execution.

As 'The Strangers: Chapter 2' gears up for its September 26, 2025 release, horror fans will have to decide for themselves whether to brave the sequel or wait for the final chapter in the trilogy to see if the series can redeem itself.
