54-Day Shoot, Rs 100 Cr Gross: A Production Masterclass

The Telugu film 'Maa Inti Bangaaram,' starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, achieved remarkable success, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark within three weeks of its release. This female-led action film, made on a modest budget, is now considered a blockbuster. Producer Himank Duvvuru shared that the film's production was completed in an impressive 54 days, attributing this speed to a rigorous pre-production process.

Duvvuru explained that D2R Films emphasizes having scripts nearly finalized, around 90 percent locked, before principal photography begins. This meticulous planning ensures the team knows exactly what to shoot each day, avoiding on-the-fly decisions and streamlining the process. This strategy allows for efficient shooting, with an eye on the eventual edit, contributing to smoother production cycles.

The production team also prioritizes practical shooting methods and schedules actor availability carefully, especially for scenes requiring multiple cast members. This prevents unnecessary delays and reshoots, ensuring that actors are on set only when actively needed for shooting. This organized approach maximizes daily potential and fosters better team understanding.

Initially, exhibitors and distributors were hesitant to back a female-led action film. To counter this, the makers released the teaser months in advance, showcasing the film's scale and quality, which helped secure distribution, satellite, and OTT deals earlier than anticipated.
