Filmmaker M. Krishnan Nair, a prominent director in 1960s-70s Malayalam cinema, is being remembered on his 25th death anniversary, May 10. This occasion is significant as it falls within the ongoing year-long 'Vayalar Year' celebrations, commemorating the 50th death anniversary of renowned poet and lyricist Vayalar Ramavarma. Ramavarma was a close friend and frequent collaborator with Krishnan Nair on many celebrated films.
To honor these two legends, Bharat Bhavan is organizing a special event titled 'Krishnanjali' on Sunday evening. The program aims to blend cinema, music, and cherished memories associated with both artists. It includes a screening of a documentary about M. Krishnan Nair, produced by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.
Following the documentary, attendees will participate in a memorial meeting and witness a book release. A musical presentation featuring songs penned by Vayalar for Krishnan Nair's films will also be a highlight. Earlier that day, the Malayalam film 'Kavyamela' will be screened. The event is a joint initiative by Bharat Bhavan and the Vayalar Ramavarma Cultural Forum.
