Summary

- The song faced backlash for explicit lyrics and was removed from YouTube.
- A cleaner version was submitted by the lyricist after the controversy.

Lyricist Raqueeb Alam has addressed the controversy surrounding the song 'Chunar Teri Sarke' from the upcoming film 'KD The Devil.' He clarified that he did not write the original explicit Kannada lyrics, which were created by the film's director, Prem. Alam stated he was only asked to translate the lyrics into Hindi, a task he initially refused due to concerns about censorship and appropriateness.
Despite his reservations, Alam translated the existing Kannada lyrics, which contained phrases like 'choosega' and 'chaatega.' He described the lyrics as having a double meaning, initially appearing inappropriate before revealing their connection to an alcohol bottle. Alam expressed his distress, noting that his work on 'good songs' often goes unnoticed, while this controversial translation has caused him humiliation.
The song's controversial nature led to its removal from YouTube. Following the backlash, the filmmakers approached Alam to write a fresh version with cleaner lyrics. He submitted the revised lyrics the following morning, and a new recording was planned, along with an apology note. The controversy also drew criticism from fellow artists like Armaan Malik and filmmaker Onir, and prompted the All Indian Cine Workers Association to petition the CBFC for action.
