Summary
- Festivals now offer luxury camping with flushing toilets and showers.
- High-end facilities include hairdryers, straighteners, and personal cleaning services.
- A premium service costs £85 for a weekend pass, with many attendees finding it worthwhile.

Festival camping has undergone a significant upgrade, with luxury amenities becoming increasingly popular. At this year's Latitude festival, attendees had access to a range of high-end facilities, including fresh-water flushing toilets and advanced shower services.
These premium offerings extend to personal grooming, with amenities like hair straighteners, curling wands, and hairdryers available. The toilet cubicles are equipped with warm water hand-washing, mirrors, and hand towels, with cleaning occurring after each use. This 'camp-side luxury' comes at an additional cost of £85 for an unlimited adult weekend pass.
Despite the price, many festival-goers like Emily Maynard, 18, and Deena Lewis, 57, found the facilities to be a worthwhile investment. They highlighted the superior cleanliness and convenience, allowing them to freshen up and feel more glamorous between acts. This demand has led companies like When Nature Calls to provide such services at events nationwide.
When Nature Calls reported that approximately 2,500 festival-goers utilized their services at Latitude. The company's manager, Jim Hartwell, emphasized their commitment to minimal queues and maximum cleanliness, supported by 75 shower heads and 54 toilets. While Latitude offers basic flushing toilets and showers, the premium services provide an elevated experience.
