In November 2025, ITV is set to premiere a new political thriller series based on Elizabeth Day's 2017 novel "The Party". The 5-part adaptation, titled "The Party", is led by Luke Evans as journalist Martin Gilmour, who has a lifelong friendship with the wealthy and charismatic politician Ben Fitzmaurice, played by Tom Cullen.
The series, written by Sarah Solemani, who also stars in the show, follows Martin as he is invited to Ben's lavish birthday party at the Fitzmaurice's country estate. However, Martin fears that the publicity of Ben's bid for the Conservative leadership will uncover the secrets of their past, with potentially tragic consequences.
Alongside Evans and Cullen, the series features a talented ensemble cast including Joanna Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Sam Troughton, Sally Scott, Sinéad Matthews, Bally Gill, Amaka Okafor, and Rakie Ayola. The production, which began filming in Wales last month, is a collaboration between Evans' Stoic Productions, World Productions, and ITV Studios.

"From the moment I read Elizabeth Day's novel, I knew it had the makings of something truly special for television," said Evans, who is also serving as an executive producer on the project. "Sarah Solemani's adaptation captures the emotional depth and tension of the story perfectly, and to collaborate once again with World Productions and ITV, alongside such an extraordinary cast, is a real privilege."
