Argentine Theater Icon Luis Brandoni Dies at 86

Luis Brandoni, a towering figure in Argentine theater, film, and television, passed away this Monday at the age of 86. His death occurred a week after he was hospitalized due to a fall at his home. The accident resulted in a head injury and a subsequent cerebral hematoma, from which he sadly did not recover.

Brandoni, known for his talent, discipline, and commitment, had been facing health issues in recent months. Despite visible frailty, he continued to work, captivating audiences. His family and colleagues confirmed that the cause of death was not a stroke, but complications arising from the head trauma.

The theater community is in mourning, with producer Carlos Rottemberg calling Brandoni 'the last first actor of an unforgettable generation.' Brandoni dedicated over six decades to his craft, beginning his professional career in the early 1960s after training at the National Conservatory.

Farewell arrangements are being organized in Buenos Aires, including a public viewing at the Legislature and a burial service at the Panteón de Actores. Brandoni leaves behind a legacy of an active career that continued until his final days.
