Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz eloped in 1940, and Ball initially received a brass ring from Woolworth's. Arnaz later presented her with a cushion-cut diamond engagement ring and a significant 40-carat aquamarine ring, a gem that matched her eyes and was Arnaz's birthstone. This aquamarine piece, however, was stolen in 1950 from a hotel in Chicago. The theft also included other valuable items, totaling over $6,000, and was never solved.

Following the reported burglary, Ball was seen wearing her cushion-cut diamond ring. For the 2021 biopic 'Being the Ricardos,' actress Nicole Kidman wore a recreation of the famous aquamarine ring, highlighting the enduring legacy of Ball's personal style and the story behind her cherished jewelry.
