Summary
- Lucasfilm won a lawsuit over Peter Cushing's likeness in Rogue One.
- Tyburn Film Productions claimed lost 250,000 pounds over an actor agreement.
- The court ruled it impossible to identify Tyburn's transferred property.

Lucasfilm, a unit of Disney, secured a victory in London on Thursday, December 18, 2025, successfully dismissing a lawsuit concerning the digital likeness of the late actor Peter Cushing. Cushing, who passed away in 1994, was recreated using visual effects for his role as Grand Moff Tarkin in the 2016 film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
The legal challenge was brought forth by Tyburn Film Productions, who contended that their 1993 agreement with Cushing for a television film granted them exclusive rights to digitally revive the actor. Tyburn alleged financial losses of around 250,000 pounds, suing Lucasfilm and Lunak Heavy Industries for unjust enrichment.
Despite initial attempts by Lucasfilm to have the case thrown out, the Court of Appeal ultimately ruled in their favor. Judge Sue Carr stated that Tyburn could not demonstrate any transferred property to Lucasfilm, rendering the claim unsustainable and concluding the legal dispute.
