- Karan Razdan stated most of the original script was changed.
- Priyanka Chopra's original death scene was cancer-related.

Karan Razdan, the writer behind the 2008 film Love Story 2050, has revealed that the movie was originally conceived as a vehicle for Aamir Khan's shelved film, 'Time Machine.' Razdan stated that he had written 'Time Machine' for Shekhar Kapur, which was reportedly 60% complete before being shelved.
Years later, producer Harry Baweja approached Razdan to create a future-traveling love story for his son, Harman Baweja, using 'Time Machine' as a base. Razdan cautioned against altering the core script, particularly a poignant death scene for Priyanka Chopra's character, which he believed would have deeply affected audiences. However, he noted that substantial changes were made, with only a fraction of his original screenplay retained.
Razdan expressed disappointment, explaining that he was unable to oversee the production closely due to commitments on other films. He mentioned that the original script featured Priyanka Chopra's character succumbing to cancer, a scene he felt was far more impactful than the accident-related death depicted in the final movie. He also recalled a scene where Harman's character recites Shakespeare's Hamlet to impress Chopra's character, mirroring the speech at her grave.
The film, which released 18 years ago on July 4, has been a topic of discussion, with Razdan lamenting the deviations from his original vision. He believes these changes, including the altered death sequence, compromised the film's emotional resonance.
