In recent days, the broadcasting watchdog received over 500 grievances related to the popular reality series. Episodes broadcast on January 23rd and January 26th specifically attracted the majority of these complaints.

The complaints primarily concern alleged bullying behaviors among the islanders. Specific incidents highlighted include alleged bullying of Whitney by Shaq and Jess, and Scott's behavior towards other participants, notably Sean. Tensions flared when Scott confronted Sean about his interactions, leading to accusations of Scott being a bully and Sean claiming Scott had animosity since day one.

These events have resonated with viewers online, who anticipated Ofcom involvement and expressed sympathy for those targeted. The controversy coincides with the show experiencing historically low ratings upon its launch, attracting only 490,000 viewers. This figure is substantially lower than previous seasons, although ITV has pointed to extensive streaming figures on ITVX as a more comprehensive measure of the show's popularity.
