Love Boat Cast: Where Are They Now?

The iconic cast of "The Love Boat" has pursued varied paths since the show concluded its successful run on ABC in 1986. Gavin MacLeod, who embodied the stern yet kind Captain Merrill Stubing, passed away in 2021 at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy from his extensive television career.

Bernie Kopell, who played the charming Dr. Adam "Doc" Bricker, has remained a busy actor with numerous guest roles on popular series. Fred Grandy, or "Gopher" Smith, famously transitioned from acting to politics, serving four terms as a U.S. Representative for Iowa before moving into leadership roles at Goodwill Industries.

Ted Lange, the ship's bartender Isaac Washington, directed episodes of "The Love Boat" and other series, while continuing his acting career. Lauren Tewes, as cruise director Julie McCoy, openly discussed her past struggles with cocaine addiction, which led to her departure from the show in 1984. Jill Whelan, who played Vicki Stubing, also explored careers in investigative producing and radio hosting, and now serves as a Celebrations Ambassador for Princess Cruises.

Ted McGinley, initially a guest star who became Ace Evans, later became known for his roles on "Married... with Children," "Sports Night," and "The West Wing," refuting early criticisms of being a "show-killer."
