The Kentucky General Assembly recently allocated an additional $3.2 million, bringing their total investment to $11.8 million and making them the largest funder in the orchestra's history.
The program's impact is measured through numerous events, including 47 full-orchestra concerts and 196 community partnership activities that reached over 20,000 participants. These activities are tailored to local needs, featuring classroom visits, interactive student performances, and collaborations with local artists and organizations. The tour has also premiered new music, including seven world premieres from the Louisville Orchestra Creators Corps.
Future plans include three free concerts in western Kentucky in February 2027, with more details to be announced. The In Harmony Tour is designed to bring live music and educational opportunities to underserved communities, serving as a model for arts investment nationwide. The orchestra has also announced a special engagement featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma in 2027.
