- The series was planned as a prime-time, mature animated show.
- It was intended as a direct sequel to the 1993 film.
Footage has emerged for a "Jurassic Park" animated series that was never produced, dating back to the mid-1990s. This ambitious project was conceptualized as a direct sequel to Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster. The animated show aimed for a mature, prime-time audience, differentiating it from typical children's cartoons of the era.
Original plans revealed a serialized narrative where the rival BioSyn theme park would lead to another dinosaur outbreak. Esteemed artists like William Stout and Will Meugniot were involved, intending to blend '90s animation aesthetics with advanced CG. The leaked trailer offers a glimpse into this vision, reflecting the original film's tone with a mature approach.
Despite never reaching production, the proposed "Jurassic Park" cartoon represented a forward-thinking approach to animation for its time. Its serialized format and mature themes were unusual for 1993. This lost series is now being revisited through unearthed footage, offering a look at what might have been a significant continuation of the beloved franchise.
