Coyote vs. Acme Success Sparks Hope for Lost Films

The critical and commercial success of "Coyote vs. Acme" this past weekend, following its acquisition by Ketchup Entertainment after Warner Bros. initially planned to shelve it, has ignited renewed calls for the release of other canceled projects. Michael Kurinsky, co-director of the animated film "Scoob! Holiday Haunt," has publicly expressed hope for its potential release.

"Scoob! Holiday Haunt," a Christmas-themed prequel to "Scoob!," was slated for a December 2022 release on HBO Max. However, Warner Bros. Discovery decided to cut the film as part of cost-saving initiatives and a strategic shift prioritizing theatrical releases. Despite its cancellation, the film was completed in 2022, including its score recording. This decision mirrored the earlier shelving of the "Batgirl" movie, also intended as a tax write-off.

Fans have remained vocal regarding the decision to not release "Scoob! Holiday Haunt," which features one of Andrew Braugher's final performances. "Coyote vs. Acme" faced a similar fate, announced as a $30 million tax write-off in 2023. Despite turned-down bids from major companies, Ketchup Entertainment eventually secured the film's rights in 2025, leading to its successful theatrical debut. There is currently no indication if "Scoob! Holiday Haunt" will be released.
