Sony Pictures Television announced that the new "Lord of the Flies" series has achieved widespread international sales.
This highly anticipated four-episode series represents the first television adaptation of William Golding's iconic novel. It recently premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and initially launched on BBC in the UK on February 8th. Following its debut, the series secured distribution deals across multiple regions, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Notable territories where the series will be available include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy via Sky; English and French Canada via CBC and Radio-Canada, respectively; New Zealand via TVNZ; and Japan via U-NEXT. It will also be accessible in Israel, Brazil, Iceland, and across Central and Eastern Europe and Poland through HBO and HBO Max. The series stars Lox Pratt, alongside emerging talents.
Mike Wald, co-president of distribution and networks at SPT, expressed enthusiasm for the project. He described Jack Thorne's contemporary take on the timeless story as "powerful," highlighting its cinematic scope and transportive music. The significant interest from buyers in every market underscores the novel's enduring appeal and the series' strong reception.
