In October 2025, a new film adaptation of one of Colombia's most popular folktales, "The Mouth of the Furnace," is in the works. The story centers on a lonely prospector's son who discovers a shadowy creature that offers him a tempting, but deadly, way out of his impoverished town.
The film is being brought to life by a talented team of producers and directors. Selene Films founder Sterlyn Ramírez, Spark Features co-founder Robina Riccitiello, and Yvette Yates Redick and Shaun Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment are producing the project. Autonomous FX has been tapped to create the monster at the heart of the story, and rising filmmaker Felipe Vargas is directing.
"This project is a personal journey with Latino historical roots, and I'm thrilled to see this vision come to life with such a talented team led by a Colombian director," said producer Ramírez. "We are building an environment and story that is terrifying yet emotionally resonant."
