A new four-part drama, set in a London suburb, is set to explore a devastating secret hidden for thirty years. The story begins in the sweltering summer of 1995, when a man buried a body during a violent storm. Thirty years later, as a nature trail project threatens to unearth this long-buried truth, the man, who has been living under an assumed name, faces the potential collapse of his meticulously constructed life.
The thriller follows Alex and Beth, a couple whose seemingly perfect suburban existence hides this dark past. Beth spearheads the neighborhood's nature trail initiative, unaware that it runs directly over the spot where the body lies. As construction looms, Alex's carefully crafted life begins to unravel, forcing him to confront how far he will go to keep his secret buried.
Filming for the drama will commence in London this Spring. The series is ordered by ITV's Director of Drama, Polly Hill, and Drama Commissioner Huw Kennair-Jones. Belinda Campbell and Tom Mullens at Red Planet Pictures, along with Hill and Kennair-Jones, are executive producing. Farren Blackburn is directing, with Sumrah Mohammed producing. This project marks a return to ITV for actor Kevin McKidd, who expressed excitement about exploring the complex role of Alex.
The drama is adapted from Louise Candlish's bestselling novel, with Simon Ashdown penning the screenplay. Red Planet Pictures previously produced the ITV drama Our House, also adapted from a Candlish novel. The series is noted for its thrilling narrative, promising shocking revelations and twists for the audience. International distribution rights are held by Fremantle.
