Summary
- Dark comedy Lockjaw's jaw is wired shut after accident.
- Film premieres Aug. 8 in theaters, Sept. 8 on VOD.
- Magenta Edge Films acquired the specialty label's film.

Magenta Edge Films has acquired the dark comedy "Lockjaw," directed by Sabrina Greco. The film, which premiered at Slamdance last year, is slated for a theatrical release on August 8, followed by a VOD and digital release on September 8. Bill Vergos of Magenta Edge Films praised Greco's "bold and witty voice" in independent cinema.
The movie stars Blu Hunt as Rayna, whose jaw is wired shut six weeks after a drunk-driving accident. The plot follows her attempts to have a fun night out with friends, during which existing relationships are strained, and new adversaries emerge.
Greco described the film as an exploration of being trapped in a mental spiral, using the wired jaw as a device to limit speech but not expression. The offbeat comedy was produced in just 11 days, reflecting the grit of microbudget filmmaking. Magenta Light Studios, founded by Bob Yari, aims to support creative voices through its specialty offshoot, Magenta Edge.
Magenta Edge Films, established in early 2026, focuses on acquiring and releasing independent films. "Lockjaw" joins their growing slate, with distribution deals negotiated by Bill Vergos and C.J. Vranca for Magenta Edge Films, and Ryan Kampe of Visit Films representing the filmmakers.
