This four-week festival aims to showcase Liverpool's "grassroots to global" musical offerings through a variety of live performances, workshops, and community activities.
The month-long festivities are being held in conjunction with New York City's own Music Month, now in its ninth year. This collaboration seeks to bridge the musical ties between the two cities, both recognized for their deep-rooted musical histories.
The event features a diverse lineup, ranging from the Sound City festival with artists like Jalen Ngonda and Kate Nash, to the Dark Reign Metal Fest where James Morrison will perform. Other notable acts include Emmy Lou Harris, The Longest Johns, Kingfishr, Roland Gift Presents Fine Young Cannibals, and Midge Ure's Band Electronica. Free events, such as a performance by Brazilian drum group Katumba, are also available.
Concluding the celebration, the Baltic Weekender will take over multiple venues on May 30 and 31, offering a mix of house, disco, techno, bass, and grime sets. Organizers expressed enthusiasm for strengthening the cultural and maritime connections between Liverpool and New York.
