As of November 1st, 2025, Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas has extended an open invitation to the producers of Netflix's hit series 'Emily in Paris' to bring the show's lead character, Emily, to the city's cobblestones. Moedas believes Lisbon's charm and diverse storytelling potential would be a perfect fit for the show, which has already taken Emily from Paris to Italy and Lisbon.
While Moedas did not promise Emily fewer career setbacks or heartbreaks in Lisbon, he emphasized the city's appeal as a filming location. This comes as French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to "fight hard" to keep Emily living it up in Paris, and Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has told Macron to chill over Emily's Roman holiday.
Moedas sees Lisbon as a symbol of diversity and innovation, with the city's Beato Innovation District hosting the Tribeca Festival Lisboa this week. The festival is a collaboration between the Tribeca Festival, Portuguese media players, and the city, showcasing the intersection of technology, art, and culture. Moedas believes this blend of creativity and technology is "magical" and can create new jobs and products.
