Netflix has announced "Jig," a new mockumentary comedy series from Lisa McGee, the celebrated creator of "Derry Girls" and "How to Get to Heaven From Belfast." Set to film next year in Northern Ireland, the six-episode show explores the competitive realm of Irish dancing.
"Jig" centers on Cara and Fletcher, best friends whose dance school in Derry faces formidable challenges. Their dreams of competing at the world championships are threatened by a well-funded and seemingly invincible rival operation based in Florida. Casting details for the series have not yet been revealed.
This new project marks McGee's third series for Netflix. The announcement was made during the Edinburgh TV Festival, where Netflix also revealed other upcoming projects, including a "Top Boy" prequel and a drama series starring Kate Winslet. Orchid Pictures is producing "Jig."
