The opening show of Lionel Richie's "Sing A Song All Night Long" tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24 was unexpectedly halted due to the singer's sudden illness. Richie, 77, became unwell during his performance at the Grand Casino Arena.
After performing "Three Times A Lady" from the piano, Richie announced an intermission. Shortly after, his band exited the stage. Around 40 minutes later, a band member informed the audience that Richie was not feeling well and could not continue the show.
Videos from the concert showed Richie sitting down multiple times during his song "Dancing on the Ceiling," and he reportedly told the crowd he felt dizzy. The "Sing A Song All Night Long" tour, which began in 2023, features 26 dates.
This tour with Earth, Wind & Fire is scheduled to visit major cities including New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, concluding in Austin, Texas, on August 14. Richie had expressed gratitude to his band and crew in an Instagram Story prior to the show.
