Grammy-nominated songwriter Linda Perry has released "Let It Die Here," her first solo album in over 25 years. The 17-track project emerged during a period of profound personal loss following her mother's death. Perry, at 61, also directed sharp criticism toward Donald Trump, whom she labeled a "moron."
Her candid reflections extend to her youth spent in San Diego's Balboa Park, where she found community among queer friends, punks, and artists. Perry characterized these often-turbulent times, which included homelessness, as some of the most enjoyable of her life, highlighting an innocence within the recklessness.
Perry also voiced concern over the modern music industry's shift away from prioritizing musical talent towards social media popularity. She believes labels now sign artists based on follower counts, lamenting the loss of authenticity and the 'rock star' persona.
The album and its companion documentary, directed by Don Hardy, were released on May 8, 2026. The documentary unexpectedly evolved from documenting Perry's intensely personal journey through grief and a breast cancer diagnosis, which led to a double mastectomy.
