Linda Cardellini Embraces Pamela Voorhees Role

Linda Cardellini is stepping into the iconic role of Pamela Voorhees in Peacock's new Crystal Lake series, a prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise. Cardellini discussed her interpretation of the character, emphasizing an arc that begins with good intentions and survival, ultimately leading to her villainous path. She noted the challenge of embodying a role previously defined by Betsy Palmer.

Cardellini acknowledged Palmer's portrayal of a devoted mother and plans to explore the early years of Jason Voorhees's life, ensuring a connection to the original character. Subtle homages, like a specific sweater, will be incorporated, reminiscent of Palmer's appearance in the 1980 film.

The upcoming series, set to premiere on October 15, promises complex special effects. Cardellini recounted a particularly demanding scene involving a significant amount of blood, which required multiple takes and extensive cleanups. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane lauded Cardellini's performance, highlighting her professionalism and consistent execution of difficult stunts and gags.
