Lillard Responds to Tarantino's Harsh Actor Diss

Matthew Lillard has spoken out about the impact of Quentin Tarantino's critical remarks about his acting. In a viral interview last fall, Tarantino described Lillard, along with Paul Dano and Owen Wilson, in harsh terms, stating he didn't care for Lillard or Wilson and calling Dano "the weakest fucking actor in SAG."

Lillard admitted that Tarantino's comments were a "bummer" and "hurt your feelings." He likened the experience to being "punched in the mouth." However, the actor revealed that the extensive support he received from fans and fellow Hollywood professionals in the wake of Tarantino's statements was incredibly meaningful.

Numerous collaborators and prominent figures, including George Clooney, James Gunn, and Mike Flanagan, publicly championed Lillard, with Flanagan calling him "the goddamn greatest" and Gunn describing him as "one of my favorite guys (and actors)." This wave of support, which Lillard shared with his wife to affirm his worth, was described as "beautiful" and a powerful contrast to the criticism.

Paul Dano also experienced a similar reaction, receiving widespread support from industry colleagues and fans. Dano expressed gratitude for the public affirmation, noting that it was "really nice" and that he was grateful the "world spoke up for me so I didn't have to."
