Chicago-based rock and post-punk trio Lifeguard will release their new maxi-single, "Ultra Violence" / "Appetite," in the coming year. The concise release boasts 11 tracks clocking in at a rapid 13 minutes, slated for both digital and limited 7" vinyl formats. The project's opening track, "Ultra Violence," is available now.
Recorded within the band's Stulogulo studio, the maxi-single utilizes an 8-track machine, dub effects, and analog sound treatments. Lifeguard describes the sound as "the fully deterritorialized Ripped and Torn; the ripping and tearing of the band-aid." This follows their debut album, "Ripped and Torn," released earlier this year.
The band is currently on tour supporting Bar Italia, with dates extending through November in cities like Boston and Montreal. Beyond Lifeguard, singer-guitarist Kai Slater is also active with his solo project, Sharp Pins, with new music set for release soon.
