Lia Buman has been appointed as the new Head of Global Acquisitions and Republic Pictures at Paramount Pictures. Buman, a producer known for films like "The History of Sound" and "Together," will report to Paramount Pictures Co-Chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein. Her leadership signifies a strategic move to integrate independent film sensibilities with Paramount's global reach.
In her capacity, Buman will oversee Republic Pictures as a development and production label focused on commercially viable films rooted in independent filmmaking. She will also lead an expanded worldwide acquisitions and co-production strategy, encompassing diverse deal structures and independent feature market opportunities. Max Silva joins as SVP, Production & Development for Republic Pictures.
This new structure aims to harness Paramount's global infrastructure while embracing the flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit of independent cinema. Buman expressed enthusiasm for building a slate of bold, entertaining films by drawing on her extensive experience in the independent film community over the past two decades.
