11 Mar
Summary
- Leonardo DiCaprio received his first Oscar nomination at age 19.
- He secured his first and only Oscar win for The Revenant in 2016.
- DiCaprio has earned eight Oscar nominations throughout his career.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar journey began with his first nomination in 1994 for "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," though he lost to Tommy Lee Jones. Early in his career, despite acclaimed performances in "Romeo + Juliet" and "Titanic," he faced Oscar snubs.
More than a decade later, DiCaprio earned his second nomination for "The Aviator" in 2005, losing to Jamie Foxx. He continued to receive nominations for films like "Blood Diamond." Following perceived snubs for "The Departed" and "Inception," his performance in "The Wolf of Wall Street" also led to a best actor nomination, which he lost to Matthew McConaughey in 2014.
DiCaprio's perseverance paid off when he secured his first and, to date, only Oscar for his role as Hugh Glass in "The Revenant" in 2016. During his acceptance speech, he also spoke about the urgency of combating climate change.
His eighth Oscar nomination came for his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," for which he lost to Joaquin Phoenix. Another recent nomination was for his role in "One Battle After Another."
