Lemonheads Frontman Exposes Courtney Love's Deception and Kurt Cobain's Tragic Misconception

In his new memoir, Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando is finally setting the record straight on the notorious 1994 photo of him kissing Courtney Love. The image, which surfaced just three months after Kurt Cobain's suicide, sparked widespread rumors that Dando and Love were having an affair.

Dando now explains that the kiss was entirely staged, with Love repeatedly pressuring him to pose for the photo despite his reluctance. He recounts how Love even tried to make something happen between them, but he consistently rejected her advances. Tragically, Dando also reveals that Cobain had believed the rumors and thought his bandmate was cheating on him with Love before his death.

The aftermath of the photo was deeply upsetting for Dando, as he faced backlash from Cobain's fans and even some of his own supporters. Love's attempts to spread false narratives about their relationship only exacerbated the situation, leaving Dando feeling like he was unfairly implicated in the "sad, strange story of Kurt and Courtney."

Despite the pain and controversy, Dando's memoir promises to provide a candid and insightful look at the music scene of the 1990s, a time he describes as marked by "innocence, access, and anonymity." By reclaiming his own story, Dando aims to offer readers a portrait of an artist wholly devoted to his craft, even in the face of intense media scrutiny.
