On October 22nd, 2025, the film industry mourned the loss of Malaysia Bhaskar, a legendary stunt director who passed away after suffering a heart attack in Malaysia. Bhaskar was known for his breathtaking fight choreography that effortlessly blended realism and style, and his influence resonated deeply within Indian cinema, particularly in the vibrant realm of Malayalam films.
Bhaskar's collaborations were with top Malayalam filmmakers such as Joshiy, I. V. Sasi, Bharathan, Fazil, Siddique, and Sibi Malayil. His name carried such weight that when the title card "Fight - Malaysia Bhaskar" appeared on screen, it would elicit thunderous applause in theatres across Kerala. Bhaskar's most noted works include films like 'Thazhvaram', 'Mrigaya', 'Ramji Rao Speaking', 'Kalikkalam', 'Sooryamanasam', 'Samrajyam', 'Boxer', 'Kuttapathram', 'Randam Bhavam', and 'Bodyguard', with the fights in these films remaining etched in Malayalam film history.
The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) directors' union expressed its condolences, praising Bhaskar's versatility and enduring influence on the industry. According to editor P. C. Mohanan, Bhaskar was in Malaysia for a shoot schedule of a new Tamil film directed by Balaji at the time of his passing. The funeral will take place in Malaysia on October 26th, 2025.
